Green County EMS purchases property across the street.

Green County EMS is preparing for a new home.  They have purchased the old IGA store, formerly the Bargain Depot, and they know just what to do with it.  Build a new station.

Green County EMS, Inc. was founded in 1974.  In 1975, the first full year of service, there were 306 calls.  In 2005, 30 years later, GCEMS responded to 1,089 calls. Lasts year, 2010, GCEMS had 1,446 calls.  With over 60 members, three ambulances, and a Rapid Response Vehicle, we have out grown our current facility.  Right now, the third ambulance and RRV are parked in the small back lot.  We also have almost 2/3 of our members who live outside the 4-minute response, most living in other communities outside Monroe, who need to stay at the station when on call.  We have 3 bedrooms to support those who need to stay here.

A new facility will provide more room to be able to staff the ambulances and provide excellent response time, house all the vehicles to make sure they are available at a moment’s notice, and to keep up with the ever changing training needed to provide excellent service to everyone in need.

Our goal is to have a new station completed by the fall of 2014.  The plan is for at least four ambulance bays (possibly five), sleeping quarters for at least six crew members, additional office, storage, and classrooms.

GCEMS not only provides service to Monroe, but also to 7 villages and 10 townships.  We are always looking for drivers and Emergency Medical Technicians; especially for day shifts.  We are a private, volunteer, not-for-profit organization.
